But It's Winter, A Poem

Trying not to live in my robe when at home But it's winter Trying not to drink more than one beer a night But it's winter Trying not to let my 2 year old watch too much TV But it's winter Trying to protect my dry hands from cracking But it's winter Trying to turn sexual desire into sexual action But it's winter Trying not to let too many stray cats pass through my door But it's winter Trying to live in the moment, be grateful and not daydream about being somewhere else But it's winter... Author's Note: I don't typically feel so negative and depressive; writing is a release for me.  Light, Love and Peace ~J

Winter Blues Poem

Image
I hate this weather. It's windy, it's cold. It chills me to the core, to the bone . I hate this weather. I fucking hate it. It makes me feel grumpy and old but mainly just cold . This weather at times, it even chills my soul! My ser , my very being. There are people that don't mind it- Good for them . There are people that get used to it- Good for them . I hate this weather. It's gloomy too much of the time, the clouds hang so low for so long It can make a non-pot-smoker wanna hit a bong. It's not good for me. Everyday I find myself just trying to cope, looking forward to vacation is my glimmer of hope . I hate this weather. I fucking hate it. I know no one cares and good for them. I'm writing for me, not for them, because they don't mind this fucking weather, with this weather they know how to cope at least that's my humble hope.

The More Good You Do The Less Bad You'll Do A Poem

Image
The more good you do The less bad you'll do It sounds so simple but it's so very true Because doing good makes you feel good Even more so than you knew it would Doing good gives you energy, health and vitality And makes you appreciate life and see it how it's supposed to be- Beautiful, miraculous, amazing and true And you're a part of that good... yes, you ! So do good, do your part It doesn't take much to go ahead and start Do it today and if it must wait until tomorrow write it down so you won't forget Because the  good flame will burn on once the candle is lit! Inspired by a day with horses Me, riding down a path at a friend's farm as Sammy looked on.

The Story of a Bonded Pair in a High Intake Animal Shelter

Image
Revised 1/3/18     Chachi arrived at Animal Services with her mother in late October, 2013.     I didn't, and still don't know, if I can do these 2 dogs justice with words alone.     But I'll try... simply by telling their story. A Bonded Pair     Have you ever seen 2 dogs so bonded... so bonded they sleep together, curled up, one using the other as a pillow, they eat together, with one always just a step behind the other, ready to play, to gently jump on its buddy, to mouth, roll around and have a lot of good ol' doggy fun?     This is how Chachi and Chichi were, extremely bonded .     Chachi, the daughter, was always gently bouncing on her mom to provoke play, and her mom delighted in the love and attention of her daughter!     I'll never forget the first time I saw them- they were sleeping together in a kennel about half way down the long row of full large-dog-runs, Chachi using her mom...

Mi Amigo, Mi Perro, Un Poema

Image

Coping with the Death of a Pet, Our Story

Llorón was "my dog."     A year and a half ago I owned 2 dogs, Llorón and Thalia.     I always referred to sweet Thalia as "everyone's dog."     Of course she was my dog but her easy going, lovable disposition often made it feel like she belonged to everyone. She would make herself right at home at the neighbor's when we lived in a duplex, sometimes staying over there for hours. A year later when we moved to an apartment in Miami Beach she would also spend a lot of time with an upstairs neighbor. She was content just sitting with the elderly gentleman upstairs as he watched TV. With Thalia I'd always have to go next door or upstairs and 'get her' to come home, or, when at the dog park I always had to call her to leave.      Llorón was the opposite. He wouldn't let me out of his sight.            Where mommy went, Llorón went. Special Memories...      I'll never forget the first time I ...

Random Thoughts on Dog's Passing

Image
I treasure my alone time; that's my time with you, with your memory. I run through my mind over and over again your scent, your big puppy dog eyes, your idiosyncrasies, our cherished times together. In my time alone I keep you close to me.  I hold you and bid you to be near me.  I hope that in doing this I'm not keeping your soul from moving on.  It's just so extremely hard to be without you now, day in and day out. You were my side kick, my friend, my baby... part of my very being. You still are and always will be part of me Llorón. I will never fully let you go. You will always have me as your mommy, til we meet again one day, God willing.
