What to Do If You Find a White Dove

Image
How It Happened      When the white dove first appeared in our yard. I was dancing around the living room to "Big Girls Don't Cry!"     It took several hand gestures to get my husband and son to notice the bird- and they were in the front yard (playing). The Dove    Elvis had played too and all of us danced for that one! My (recently departed) grandmother, Claudia, loved 60's music and Elvis was her favorite .  I remember listening to a cassette of "Greatest 60's Hits" in her car as a child. The cassette tape had "Big Girls Don't Cry" on it.     So ... we were all thinking of 'Mingya,' (as I called her) as these 60's classics played!    And that's when I caught a glimpse of the white dove .     It was there, out of nowhere.     It was on a Saturday.     I threw it seed.          It didn't stray far from our home and seemed unable to find food on...

You are Doing Your Best and That's Good Enough

Image
Recently I changed the name of my blog to  Be Your Best You!     I purchased a new domain and am working to spruce things up online.     This is out of my comfort zone since I'm not a tech-savvy person.     I am, however, a long-time-practitioner of creative visualization, meditation and energy healing.         At 38 years old I'm grateful to have: my health, a loving, healthy husband and son, my education and a little dog walking business (I could go on but I won't!).         I feel fortunate and proud to primarily be a stay at home mom with my nearly-4-year-old-son, although I know that's not for everyone!     There's no 'one size fits all' in life.         Along the way I've learned a lot through trial and error and feel enlightened much of the time.     Hopefully some of what I've learned, and practice on a daily basis, can he...

How We Finally Got Our Baby to Sleep Through the Night

Image
-Written when my baby was almost a year old; I didn't finish the post back then because, baby didn't keep sleeping through the night!     Oh my baby?     He slept for 12 1/2 hours last night, 9 of which were uninterrupted by night wakings.     Sorry to sound like a bragging mom but, I'm a little entitled.     I spent 10 months suffering the horrendous effects of sleep deprivation. Many days I felt irritable, angry and zombie-like.             Some days the deprivation made me feel physically sick, others just depressed and hopeless.     Don't get me wrong, I had good days too but sleep deprivation and my baby's ongoing night wakings were taking a toll on every aspect of my life.     Me, me, me, I'm going on just about myself...  Imagine how my poor baby felt... waking up every couple of hours nearly every single night?!     There has been a lot of mommy-guilt associate...

Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Maria Poem

Image
Will man finally listen? Will man finally learn? That there are bridges than cannot be burned. Will man's survival need overcome his glutton and greed? Will man finally see how the value of just one seed represents how we all succeed? Will man finally let it sink in, as it sinks into his roof, that we're all one, all connected, under this brilliant sun? Will man finally accept the predictions were right, from Jesus Christ to scientists, climatologists... will man finally see the light? Surely he will. For the storm always passes. But when it does will man finally do something to control his masses? To assure we nurture rather than destroy, and that politicians are earnest, not coy, To assure we respect our universal mother, even when we can't get along, sister and brother. Right now mama tierra seems rather angry and sad, Overwhelmed, like she's feeling bad. Pumping tons of chemicals into earth's core, Man, that's not what we're h...

Hurricane Harvey Hit Hard, Thanks in Great Part to the Hand of Man

Image
The deaths, damage and havoc left in Harvey's path are caused in part by the hand of man. Sand dunes, trees and natural occurring dams all help absorb storm water run off and prevent catastrophic natural events. Poor city planning doesn't allow for Mother Nature to properly do her job. For years an increase in flooding, earthquakes, wildfires, super storms and drought has been predicted by scientists and geologists. Therefore no one should be surprised by these catastrophic, sad occurrences. "The water has nowhere to go. There's too much concrete there," said a Texas-resident friend of mine today via a phone conversation. Photo of Houston flooding

Daily Affirmation

I am part of the grand plan, the design of life. As the flower has its place to grow, so do I. We are here to live, learn, love and grow. Life is a journey. None of us are perfect but through openness to the eternal grace of the Universe/God we can grow closer to perfection and perfect bliss with each passing moment. Joy is yours. Joy is mine. We all are worthy of joy. The more joy we feel, the more we can share, hence making the world a better place. Love lives within me. I'm doing the best I can and every day I grow, learn and do better, easily, at a pace that's comfortable for me.
